From Hertfordshire Scouts:
Peter Collins was DC of Elstree District in the 1960s for 10 years, and arrived in Borehamwood having served as a Scout and Leader in the 8th Holborn Scout Group where his fellow distinguished leaders were Jack Olden and Ralph Reader. Peter had served in corvettes in WWII on the Atlantic convoys and one night during heavy seas, he lost his footing while descending a ladder and fell on his knees. He suffered problems with his legs for the rest of his life. Peter and Jack last visited the County Scout Heritage Centre in 2008 for the 100 years of Hertfordshire Scouting exhibition. Peter had been in a wheelchair for some years.
His funeral and cremation will take place at Garston, North Watford on Monday 23 December at 11.20 hrs. Following this guests are invited back to St Michael and All Angels church hall, Brook Road, Borehamwood. I look forward to meeting many of his old friends there.
