A small but intrepid group of Scouts started 2015 with an action-packed weekend at Wintercamp at Gilwell Park. Activities included whitewater rafting at the Olympic kayaking venue in the Lea Valley.

On Remembrance Sunday we once again joined the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers for their annual remembrance ceremony in Holborn. Our Scouts spent two days collecting for the Poppy Appeal this year – first at Leicester Square Underground Station then at the Lord Mayor’s Show.

Well done to our Scouts who took part in the Chiltern 20 Challenge, a 20km navigation competition in the Chiltern hills. Our team didn’t quite complete the route, but showed an intrepid spirit and enthusiasm in adversity that we can all be proud of.

Our Cub Scout Pack joined with friends from East London Scout District in September for their annual camp at Fairmead in Epping Forest.

For our Summer Camp this year we were based at the lovely Kinver Scout Training Camp in Staffordshire. More than 80 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, leaders and parents took part in our Group Camp at the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.

This weekend our Scouts cycled up the Great North Way, a cycle route in the Hertfordshire countryside, and back down part of the Lee Valley. Some of our Beavers and Cubs visited the Emirates Stadium earlier this month with their families for a ceremony to recognise their achievement of the Chief Scout’s Bronze Award. Full report on the county website.
